B Corporation
Academica University of Applied Sciences, in its role as a researcher and educator, is giving meaning and form to its ambition to contribute to a sustainable future for all. This ambition fits well with the international movement of certified B Corporations (B Corp).
B Corp is a certificate issued in 2006 by the non-profit organization B Lab. It is a certification for organizations, where the B stands for "Benefit. As a B Corp, you provide accountability for your social and environmental performance, social contribution and transparency in your governance.
Academica is the first in it's sector to commit to this journey, and we are proud to take the first steps.
Business as a force for good
This is what organizations with B Corp certification stand for. To emphasize our mission and to be assured that we are on the right track, our goal is to become B Corp certified.
B Corporations
Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global shift to an inclusive, just and regenerative economy. They build trust with consumers, communities and suppliers, and attract workers and purpose-driven investors. In other words, as a B Corp, you put the collective interest of society first.
Academica recognizes and gives meaning with all its activities to this social responsibility on the following four levels: ME, WE, WORK and WORLD. As a result, we are focused on increasing impact and continuously improving performance, leading to long-term resilience for people and society.
Our values
To achieve our mission, we are guided by these 4 values: Education, Excellence, Sustainability and Leadership. With our students, we work on Sustainable Development Goals and the B Lab values (Workers, Customers, Community, Governance and Environment) run as a thread through our programs.
Internally, Academica has formulated policies on our buildings, mobilities, use of materials and the employability of our people. For this reason, we only work with suppliers who consider sustainable working practices of primary concern.
